Newbie Intel Questions. Thanks!
Howdy,
Can anyone point me to a FAQ on intelligence projects? If not, can anyone outline which intell projects are useful besides the ship and planet rebellions?
Also, if my opponent is using a counter intel project, do I have any chance of effectively hitting him?
Thanks for the help

Re: Newbie Intel Questions. Thanks!
Dumbluck,
Thanks for the links.
So, if I understand correctly, I have to spend more points on aggressive intel projects than my opponent has accumulated in counter intel. Once that happens, my projects should largely succeed, as long as I am still spending more on offence than he is on defence. Once in a while, one will fail if he has been focusing on counter intel.
It also strikes me that you need a fairly big advantage in this area if you want to get anywhere and you have to keep hitting the same target for a long time. Splitting your efforts against multiple enemies will reduce your rewards. It also seems to me that even a race who doesn’t intend to use intel is well advised to get the tech and build a few facilities, if only to build up a large number of counter intel points and ruin the first couple of attacks.
Would it be fair to say if both my ally and I are using aggressive intel against the same enemy, we will burn up his accumulated points faster?
Please let me know if this information is correct or not. I have sunk a fair bit into intell and want to use it well. You can read that as, I have a problem and need a lot of help!

Re: Newbie Intel Questions. Thanks!
Yep. All your points sound correct.
In my Last PBW game, I concentrated on my 1 opponent that had not developed any intel, and later on switched to another opponent that had. The second opponent countered about every 2nd or 3rd project I threw at him, because I had quite a bit more intel points.
If you have a partnership treaty with someone, you trade Intel points just like resources and research. So depending on your treaty situation, you may get some advantage before you build any facilities yourself.

Certainly. The defenders don't distinguish between the sources, and they will end up being hit by twice as many intel points each turn. (Assuming you & friend are equal in intel strength)
Also, (if the latest patches havent changed it) the counter intel reports do not generally detail what operation was attempted. So, (if view all scores is off) you can:
- throw twelve smallish projects at him each turn, making him think your intel is much more powerful than it really is.
- attack only with large projects, and maybe he will not realize how fast his counter-points are being eaten away.
