Ammo/Shots
Take a look at the attached screen print. The unit has no ammo of any kind, yet the unit info shows it has shots available.

Re: Ammo/Shots
It has 4 smoke rounds remaining... Smoke is ammo, smoke needs shot opportunities to use. So it has shots available.

Re: Ammo/Shots
Absolutely, smoke ammo counts as ammo for shots available .......as Andy said it IS ammo even though it is counted as extra rounds stored away and varies a bit from unit to unit.

Re: Ammo/Shots
Here's the problem with this. You try to shoot the unit because it shows shots available. It doesn't. So you think perhaps it can't see the target. You click the Unit View button to light up the visible hexes and see that the target is visible. So you finally hit the space bar and see that it has no ammo. Quite annoying.
In my opinion smoke grenades either 1) should not affect the shots display, or 2) have a shot slot of their own (preferred). As it stands it's quite misleading because the display shows shots with both the primary and secondary weapons, neither of which can fire.

Re: Ammo/Shots
They are NOT " smoke grenades" that is entirely different, These are smoke shells.....and now you know how it works and has worked for two decades you won't be confused next time......will you? Especially now you have learned to check both the AP / HE ammo AND the smoke shells shown available when you try to fire a unit and you find it will not.
ALL of these things you find are things everyone eventually learns about... the game is not broken, it does not need to be fixed even though you seem determined to prove it is.
EDIT... I finally took a look at the zip. I thought this was an armoured vehicle, I see now it is not but, in that case, those smoke grenades are still treated as ammo and the unit is not without some resources to defend itself if attacked therefore Andys comments still stands......to the game they are ammo and therefore still have shots and this is only "confusing" until it's understood..... and now it's been explained it should be understood......it may not be the way you think it should be handled but in 20 years of doing this you are the first one to make an issue of it. Others in the past have questioned why and the answer has alway been the same.....check your smoke ammo...there will be some left and that's where it ends

Re: Ammo/Shots
If I thought something is broken, I would call it a bug. What I am trying to point out is where the game could be improved without a lot of effort, seemingly. Making a player do additional work does not add to the enjoyment of the game.

Re: Ammo/Shots
It's not additional work at all once the mechanism is understood......NOW it's understood it won't be confusing any longer
IF this was a wider issue with players we WOULD have heard about it by now and other would be chiming in to support your position......so far that is not happening
