Generated Campaigns, Jets and UAVs
Got a couple questions:
1) Have completed one 7-battle campaign (Israel vs Russia, Syria and Turkey) and am now playing as Russia vs Ukraine, UK and USA, both in late 2018. So far, after 9 battles, there has not been a single air attack against friendly forces (AA assets--radar-guided flak and manpads--make up 10-15% of the core). Is this typical?
2) Are UAVs part of the support menu? Wanted to buy some but couldn't find them in miscellaneous, like jets or helos. Am I missing something?
Thanks for your kind attention. Cheers and happy gaming!

Re: Generated Campaigns, Jets and UAVs
If the points are low - then there may be little air, as planes are expensive in this time frame.
Israel is one of the highest air support armies - so its unlikely that the Arabs will ever have air. Russia is fairly high, but if against USA then that trumps Russian air support, so you should see some air. But not likely if its only ~5-7000 points and any purchases of 500 points a pop MBT and 277 points a pop APCs have left no change in the till to buy them. The AI usually buys some AAA and that is not cheap in 2018, either.
UAV is is usually in a formation labelled "spotter plane" or "spotter" in misc. as with other air you will need strike points to buy them.

Re: Generated Campaigns, Jets and UAVs
Maybe it's 'cuz the points have been less than 8,000 for the first campaign and less than 7,000 for the second. Never recall seeing any air formations at all, let alone spotter planes on the support menu.
Sorry to sound dumb but what do you mean by "strike points"? Are they different from regular support points? In my WW2 LCs airstrikes and spotter planes were on the menu even if I didn't have remaining support points to buy them.

Re: Generated Campaigns, Jets and UAVs
Air strike points - if the game gives you some then you can buy air units up to that number, which then decreases per flight bought. If you have zero, you have no potential air support.

Re: Generated Campaigns, Jets and UAVs
Heh-heh. Now before I play defense vs Ukraine airstrikes and spotters show up on the misc menu. So I grabbed a UAV to see how they work. (Had one as Russia vs China as assaulter in an earlier campaign--1990 or thereabouts--but everybody was dug in so didn't see much. This time should be a lot different.)
BTW in the last battle (Russia delaying vs USA) the AI used two Apaches. Damaged one by tank cannon and chased the other around with manpads and radar flak. A couple Hellfires were launched at a precious T-90 but both missed due to VIRSS. Is this game cool or what?
A bit off-topic but: Despite having shotgun V-hexes set to 100% this next battle vs Ukraine has three objective clusters instead of scattershot. Dunno why. Weird, no?

Re: Generated Campaigns, Jets and UAVs
shotgun - not weird, the Vhex placement code is a tangle and sometimes you will still see normal clusters (I play the other way and see shotgunned ones). if you don't like the initial placement, spin the V-hexes with the v-hex button in map view.
