unstable star
if you build a sphereworld or ringworld around an unstable star, does that help prevent the star from going 'nova? My home systems star is unstable and i don't want it to blow up just yet ...

Re: unstable star
Yes, it does. Building a ring- or sphereworld essentially removes the star that was in the system.

There's an easy way to get around it. Before starting the game, open up events.txt and find the "star blows up event" in the list. Then delete it.

Re: unstable star
FYI the actual unstable star description does nothing.

Yes, you have to get the message "Our scientists have detected a plasma instability ... will explode in 3.0 years"
When you get this message, I kinda tried it out, did some sloppy math and found that I would have to have a pre-buildt space yard ship with Space Yard III, move it to the star that turn, and begin constructing a base with the ringworld component that turn. 1.7 years before completion, emergency has to be turned on. Or else it wouldn't be ready in time.
Of course the other components would also be needed, but they don't take as long to build.
Just to save face here, I'll add a YMMV.

Re: unstable star
I mean the unstable description does nothing at all, ignore it completely. such a star has the same chance to go as a normal star with no message.
