Default Speed of SEIV with a new system

I am wondering how much faster It will un with the new system I am getting tonight. The old was a P-II 400 with 384 megs of RAM. The new is a P-4 3 Gig with 1 Gig of RAM. With the old system I (in a large mid game) could go upstairs, get a drink, go to the bathroom, and the tun would not be finished.

I am wondering if I could expect to make it to the stairs (12 Feet)? LOL. This should be great!!

I run on P4 2.4 (1GB RDRAM). I don't think I have run any really complicated games on my PC since I got this one. Perhaps 5 or 6 players and 40 or 50 turns completed. I'd say it processed them in about 4 - 5 seconds.

Actually playing the game isn't much different as I recall. My old PC was P3 733 with 256MB RAM. Moving around the screen and popping windows up and down isn't much different.

But, there IS some discussion of just why combat replays sometimes run very slow on newer (perhaps XP) machines. Mine runs a bit slow and moving it to fast action makes it too extreme in the other way...so, I live with the regular combat replay.

Same with the new system. Hopefully this can be addressed if there is a final patch.

I also have a speedy new computer - one thing I've noticed is that I can no longer see the movement lines for ships! It's very disorienting and yes - I checked under empire options to make sure if it was set to show!

The option for that isn't under empire options.

Its under the file menu --> options.

Along with the music and sound settings.

File my observation under dork then.

Honestly, it's been so long since I've turned that on I forgot where it was...
