Default Ping: Rollo

Hey Rollo, I got a question for ya about the DevnullMod.
I was playing a solo game (I know, solo sucks compared to PBW but I play that while waiting on turns) and I'm whooping the AI's and the monsters but anyways, it was with Version 1.63. So I decided, "Hey, I'll update to Version 1.70 to get fixes and so forth." Well I downloaded it and like a dumby I didn't bother to backup my 1.63 Version. I didn't do it because I thought savegames would be compatible. But now when I load that game it loads fine, but the warp points look like asteroids now and when I click on them I get an error and I push OK, then I cannot select anything from the menu or push any of the command buttons. Only thing I can do is minimize it. So I have to ctrl/alt/delete out of the game.

Is there any reason it does this? Shouldn't the savegame be compatible with the game from 1.63? I start a new game with 1.70 and everything is fine, warp points look like they should, etc.

If the savegame is not compatible where can I download 1.63 again to install in a different directory to play the rest of that game? I looked on PBW and it's not there. Just 1.70.

I would appreciate the help.
Thanks

Oh another thing, are the monsters supposed to only build 29 ships? They have never gone above the 29 ship limit. They mostly use drones for battles. (I know they only go to 29 ships because I have scores on for all players. I was doing some tests during this game that required me to have it set up that way.)

No, savegames are not compatible. And yes, 1.63 is available from the PBW file library. Go to the Mod section and click "Show all Versions" near the top. You will see a link to download 1.63 then.

Hey Ragnarok,
Version 1.70 is not compatible with older saves. Sorry about that, but some features were added that prevented compatibility.
Here is a link to Version 1.63:

Devnull Mod Gold Version 1.63

About the monsters: yes, they do build a limited number of ships. For a 1 planet start and depending on the tech they have that could be 29. If you want more of them, you can just edit the Monsters_AI_Construction_Vehicles.txt and raise some of the numbers. Raising the 'must have at least' in entry #13 should do the job.

Have fun,
Rollo

PS: Geo was faster..

oh i forgot one thing..
I do recommend installing the older Version 1,63 in a new folder. So that you have two Version of the mod.

or just start a new game with 1.70 . Hey, that was a pretty major update after all. Grab a few extra huge planets, build some stellar moons, take a racial combo and include the UF and Sonne as an enemy.

Alright, thanks for the answers and the link Rollo.
I will probably be starting a 1.70 game here pretty soon. But the 1.63 is pretty interesting, I just got to some stellar manipulation tech and am getting ready to invade the outer borders of the Monster controled area. Should be interesting, so far I'm allies with every AI accept for 1 or 2 (out of 13 I believe) so I can see every system in the map. So far I have only seen 1 Friggin HUGE monster floating around. I can't wait to fight it. Oh and it was a 3 planet start. 3K racial points.

Geo, I totally missed the show all Versions button. I've used it before but somehow it slipped my mind this time.

You aren't the only one. We get that question a lot. Maybe we should highlight that button a little better. It's kind of blends into the background.
