Alpha Kodiak -> Rage Collective
A-k, I could not reach you by mail, your adress returned me an error. Just some remarks about the Rage :
I am not good at all with AI(yet ), but just looking at the emp setting, there was
a few points I would like to submit :
For a 2000 racial point empire :
physical strenght and repair lowered to 50.
Organic can be lowered to 70.
AI is not good invading planets, and few ships get repaired or refitted before destruction.
Environmental minmaxed to 81, reproduction and happiness set to 103.
Thus attack and defense can be upgraded to 120 and 25 point are left to be used
for 1 reproduction point or whatever.
For a 3000 point game :
I just set construction to 120, refining to 100, reproduction to 110 and cunning to 106.
For a 5000 point game :
Same settings as 3000 point, but I throw in natural merchants to allow a faster
expansion and Hardy Industrialists to have them building ships quicker.
If you want the emp files just PM your mail adress.
Cheers,
Unknown_Enemy

Agree with you Rexxx.
The Rage performance in the previous contest, was one of the reasons because I have changed the tournament format.
Anyway, still believe their DN for the late game, are somewhat weak.

Re: Alpha Kodiak -> Rage Collective
I need to revisit the Rage, and all of my AI's to bring them up to the latest standards. I like the suggestions for the Rage EMP files. Unfortunately, lately I have had almost no time for SEIV at all, except for trying to keep up with my PBW turns, as much has been going on in the dreaded "real life".
MB: I agree that in the late game the Rage ships are not the equal of other races. Now that the AI is better at using dedicated minesweepers, it may be time to remove the minesweepers from the Rage capitol ships and add more firepower to them. If I can get some time, I will see what I can do. I still have a crystaline race under development, and I would like to upgrade the others. The Azorani seem to hold their own ok, but the Namovans seem weak. I'm not sure why yet, but that is another project I would like to get going. Perhaps in hours 32-36 of the day....

And that they perform very efficiently. Having the Rage in a game quite frequently means lots of sites for remote mining and/or black holes .
It's great to see their true strength in the current AI contest.

I think it is still a usefull component in attack ships. Yes, if AI finds minefield it sweeps it efficiently in middle/late game, but AI still does not include dedicated sweepers into attacking fleets AFAIK. If enemy reseeds minefiled, attacking fleet can get into trouble.

Not sure yet, though.

Of course they do. But have you ever heard of software tuning ? Come here, you're gonna get a private demonstration.
