Default Anyone ever try an "Omnipresent view" game?

I was playing around with it. If you setup the the game with Omni view but without the "all systems seen" setting, the game appears normal at the begining. But after you explore a system you can see what's there from then on, just as if you had a ship in the system watching. Cloaking still works, as do obscuring storms.

If you set the Omni view and all systems seen together then everybody can see every system and knows what the others are doing fomr the start, except for cloaking and nebulae of course.

I assume that if Omni view is on and all systems seen is off, an ancient race player will be able to see everybodies ships from the start.

There are still ways to hide what you are doing in such a game. Cloaking and storms as I said. Also your opponenets can see your ships, but not what is in them.

Might be an interesting way to play a game. I wonder if there would be enough interest to try something like this in a PBW game?

Running low on games, Geo?

I thought you had too many going...

Anyway, sounds interesting. But six is enough for me.

Oh I didn't say I was neccesasrily going to play.

Besides, that was a long time ago. I have cut out a few and things have mellowed at work some. Although I am going back to school soon so I might get busy again then.

Newbies 101 has that setting. Unfortunatly as a Newb I didn't make the connection bewteen omnipresent view and ancient race until I encountered another race with ancient and thought about it.

I have used it when testing stuff and I wanted to see what was going on in all of the AI systems.

I used it for the Tug-of-War game. It was the only way to make such a game equitable.

As Joachim said, it's in my Newbies 101 game.
