Re: Rated Challenges Thread
After a year without SEIV I'm very keen to play again, and the 2v2 games I've been reading about on this thread sound quite exciting.
So, I'd like to invite Slynky to partner me against any 2 challengers in a fairly fast-starting game; say 3 Good planets and 100,000 minerals?
Other settings open for discussion.
Slynky? Any takers?

Well, I'm honored anytime a person who has beaten me asks me to be on his team. And I guess you figured I just finished a game (reading this thread and all) .
So, I accept your invitation and offer some suggestions to the settings:
Medium (a good-sized one) spiral map;
No intel/ruins;
Medium tech cost;
2,000 racial points;
Map placement so that teams start with distance between them and so that team members are on the same side of the map;
Team members must take same colony type and atmosphere; and
All tech/planet/ship gifting/trading allowed.
Additionally, I might suggest no ancient but I'm not really convinced of that.
So, any takers (and additional game suggestions)?

I think you're overdoing the false modesty, Mr Second-highest-rated-SEIV-player-in-the-world.
Anyhow, I'm mostly happy with the suggested settings. I'm not clear why so many people dislike Intel, but don't mind losing it if that's what's normal. I do like Ancient; but again, if everybody else wants to play without it that's fine.
So who wants to take on the second highest rated player in the world and his sidekick?

Re: Rated Challenges Thread
RL schedule is clearing a bit so this could be a chance to get rid of some old grudges
One more suggestion: No Openers/Closers.
Else I’d like to put my vote on no Ancient and I do like the added flavour of Intel.
Any volunteers not afraid of some bad body odor willing partner the Primitive one ?

Re: Rated Challenges Thread
*Raises hand* If you aren't already desperate Primitive, I might consider it. Granted, given my latest performance in the Pairs game, it may very well not be the wisest choice for you, but...
If I do play in this game, I would like to make the same additions as Primitive (that is, no warp opener/closer and no Ancient ; as otherwise, we might be breaking a record for the earliest warp opener ever built in a SEIV game).

Who can he mean?
As for game settings, we'll start on the basis of Slynky's Five Points.
I'm inclined to leave Intel on but will accept a veto if anyone strongly dislikes it.
Could the anti-Ancients and anti-Openers crowd maybe clarify what their objection to it is? Is it that you regard both of these as game-breaking, or is it the combination that you don't like?
I'm happy with a medium spiral galaxy, and 2000 race points. Is there anything else we need to set?
Mark
P.S. Slynky, your PM is not showing for some reason. You remember my e-mail address?

Re: Rated Challenges Thread
*clears throat* I think the Steamroller is referring to me. For a while, he chased me in points (though we now see who is on top). But, we played a full-tech game a long time ago and though he was in first place in point score (for most of the game), I managed to get a worthy fleet behind his lines and start glassing planets and causing rioting...I think THIS might be the score he wants to settle. Speaking of scores to settle, he should remember my first ever KOTH game was with him (and he started in the system beside me). Though I Lasted around 60 turns, I really should have cashed it in around turn 35. THAT was my initiation into KOTH... .
