OT: Would anyone know why XP would only run half-life once?
Then I have to restart. I've tried 98 and 98 compatability mode.

What Version of HL is it narf? If possible you should be running Steam.

Try bringing up Task Manager (Crtl+Alt+Del), select the processes tab and look for a hl.exe. If its there, end the process. Then re-launch Half-Life.
