Stupid Map Question
This might seem to be a stupid question, but how do you get the maps on the sight to work with the game? What would I have to type in under LOAD MAP? What happens afterwards?
Thanx for replying!

Hmm... assuming you're talking about the maps at Illwinter.com, the 3rd-party maps (by Tiltowait, under his real-world pseudonym) will work. But the official Illwinter-made maps will have to wait until patch 2.05 comes out - any day now, I presume.

Re: Stupid Map Question
Yes, but how do you make them work? I know you have to download the map and go to the map editor, but nothing beyond that...

To make the maps on the site work in a game does not require any use of the map editor, but instead requires that both the *.map and *.tga files be located in the "maps" directory. You can then select the map when you create a new game.

Re: Stupid Map Question
ahhh, thanx. How do you put them in the map directory? Do they go there automatically when you download them?

That depends on how the zip file was created. Since they are made by Users it will be different everytime.
Do you have a particular one, or a particular site, that you are getting them from?

Re: Stupid Map Question
Well assuming you have winzip (or winrar or some other extractor) you just double click on the downloaded .zip file and you can specify the path (directoy) to which you want the compressed files (should be a .tga and a .map file) to go to.
So if you're lazy like me and installed dominions2 directly to your C: drive the path you'd want is:
C:\dominions2\maps
If that's not clear enough, or not the right answer ask again
PS: if you don't have a compressor utility you can download them from places like www.winzip.com... (I think anyway, havn't checked there in a while)

Re: Stupid Map Question
Make sure that you have the
MAPNAME.tga
MAPNAME.map
in your Dominions2/maps directory (if you unzipped or unpacked them somewhere else)
