cd key bug

I just got the game which is asking me a CD key (inside the notice, i found it no matter).

The cdkey asked is something like 1234-1234-1234-123 but the one inside the notice is something like 12345-1234-1234-123 => game say wrong cdkey of course.

Well of course i found a cdkey on internet ... one that worked well ... but i am pissed to have bought a game activated with a pirate cdkey !

Any hint ?

a pirated key will be locked out so you wont be able to play multiplayer games. And possibly not solo games if it checks "home" for the ban list.

You tried entering the key you were sent? If it didnt work then maybe its on theban list. Try sending the key to info at the illwinter.com site (do NOT post it here) and let the devs see if it works for them.

My key is in the 1234-1234-1234-123 format

Did you try leaving off the first digit? I don't have my manual with me here at work, so I don't know what the format is... but since you're saying all the number blocks have the right number of digits except for the first one, I would try leaving out the first number of the first block.

My key is also 12345-1234-1234-123. It works though. Seems like these are the 3rd printing keys.

Try entering the key without using the numblock. Some time ago I used 123 as password and I *think* I had similar problems when entering it using the numblock.

Besides you don't want to play in a MP game with a pirated key since the keys are checked Online from time to time.

weird i did install the patch 2.06 & 2.08 then launched the game which asked me again for cdkey.

I tried again with my 12345-1234-1234-123 cdkey and that time it was accepted !

Hope its good now and i have the game installed with MY cd key

In your dominions folder there is a file named key, without extension, that contains the key. I think you can modify it using a text editor and that you don't need to reinstall the soft if you entered a warez key. This is not tested, so I may be wrong. But I did not saw any registry enteries containing the key, so that must be the file.

i checked and its ok now. The game accepted my cdkey when and only when i patched it
