but do i need the jabber thing to join a game or what ?
cause i could see djtools game but nowhere a join option ?

Jabber's just for notification purposes. But to actually join the game you have to create your Pretender in DomII, then connect to the mosehansen server on that game's port number and pick your race. You don't join the game through the web interface.
