				 Technology from captured facilities
I'd like to resurface the request to get technology from captured facilities. It makes a lot of sense to me and would make capturing worlds have more value and genocide less. This is especially true against human opponents who don't surrender to the person that is whupping them rather they surrender to an ally.
An alternative, if getting technology from facilities is too much, would be to reduce the cost of researching the technology. Surely, having a working example along with population that can work it would make figuring out the technology easier. Maybe having a facility that depends on a tech coult halve the cost of researching that tech.

				 Re: Technology from captured facilities
Maybe have and "analyze facility" button which works just like the analyze button in the scrap/refit menu. It would allow you to gain technology from captured facilities but, just like ships, you'd have to rip them appart in order to find out how they work. I think being able to gain tech from captured facilities makes sense, but might introduce balance issues (planets really aren't THAT hard to capture, and getting a populated planet AND new techs might be a bit too much of a windfall). Maybe allow for tech to be gained from capturing planets but increase percentage of the population who comes out to fight the invaders during ground battles, so that the effort/reward thing stays balanced. |

				 Re: Technology from captured facilities
Planets are supposed to be valuable. It makes perfect sense that the conquerer should recieve new techs considering that the population wouldn't have time to destroy all examples of working technology. If anything there should be more tech rewards for capturing a planet.
This could make for some new facilities.

Planetary destruct - just like the self destruct device on ships

Suicide facility - kills all of the population (maybe put it under the Religious trait).

Or just like on earth today. Add in that it vastly reduces the planet's value and conditions, and your planet becomes a desolate wasteland for many years.

You forgot chemical. They're kind of nasty too.

Well, if you're going for complete world vaporization, chemical munitions probably won't cut it. Biological weapons won't cause physical destruction, and there could possibly be survivors. Few, but some perhaps.

Ah, but could you coordinate their detonation in the case of an invasion? You'd need something along the lines of the Dooms-Day Machine from "Dr. Stangelove".
