Re: gaming Online
How about not spamming other companies Boards with your own advertisements?

Re: gaming Online
Sounds like Neverwinter Nights, only not good or fun or well-produced.

Whoa! I thought this was a friendly general forum about strategy gaming. We're all in the same industry here. He's trying to spread the word about his FREE game. I see no harm in that.

Re: gaming Online
It has always been standing police, and a matter of professionalism, not to advertise YOUR game on someone else game forum.
Always ask first.

Re: gaming Online
Usually if someone wants to be careful they can find a thread where it fits to say "well here is one you might look at". To start a new thread in a game companys forum saying "come to my game" is bound to rub some people wrong. Especially if the poster doesnt stick around for the conversation.

Re: gaming Online
I guess I never really liked message board nazis. Off-topic spam or rediculous postings are one thing, but it is about a game on a gaming message board. And it's free. Go ahead and flame me if it makes you feel good, but Mephisto's initial response was more harsh than it needed to be.

Re: gaming Online
I got the feeling it was his response and not an official one. The problem with that is that if you feel a person should be able to make a post then you kindof have to be willing for people to respond to it.
I actually find board nazis more comfortable. A board being run as "my board, my rules" tends to be more comfortable to me than Boards where freedom of speech gets tested continually. It can be a board that says "no such Posts" or one that says "no such responses", either way the clarity makes me confortable. But thats just me. Luckily, no matter how extreme a view, on the Internet no one has to be alone. There are plenty of Boards for everyone.

Re: gaming Online
I think I agree with Gandalf about the idea of "my rules" but I do see where Gillesie is coming from.
And yeah I do believe that Mephisto's response was a personal one because no official sharp geezers have weighed in (and rightly so)
For the record I think the motive behind advertising for players here could have been that he wants the kind of smart and mature players and peeps we get on this forum
