The only thing that would worry me is if there was somehow a cap on the maximum "bonus" you can give to research. You should make it -80 or so just to play it safe, as a Lantern+Skull Mentor rainbow mage could otherwise get above 1 research point... or a truly heroic "Adept Researcher" mage.
