There are only 2 ways to increase research points

1) Build more research facilities.

It takes 1 turn before you will notice an effect on your research output every time u build another facility

2) A Trade and Research Treaty or higher

That way you recieve a % of their research output, and they recieve a % of yours, mutually beneficial and highly profitable.

Try to build research planets
where all the planet has is a space yard heaps of research facilities (28) and a computer facility to increase your research

build your space yard on planets that only have a few facility slots to make the most percentage bonus facilities.

Yes include the space yard helps for upgrading the facilities when you need to and also mean that the planet can still be producing something even when it is bringing in around 50k research points on it's own.

I agree with Cyc on the space yards thing but on the big planets you can build a space yard and then build a space ship yard and then scrap the planet one and build something else. That way your bigger planets can build stuff via the space ship yard or space base yard.

Usually if it is small like a 1 size I just put a research fac on it until i can put planet utilization facilities on it. Then I will put the climate or atmoshpere converter on it. Climate until I have the atmoshpere converter then them first always.

For sizes of 3 I put 1 research 1 space yard and follow the small 1 size idea for the Last slot.
