The Rebel Alliance isn't supposed to have anything set in stone. They are a resistance movement using whatever they can manage to scrounge up. Even when they became the New Republic they were using leftovers. They were very lucky to obtain the starfighters and Mon-Cal ships. The set is perfectly fine as is. No, scratch that, it's more than fine. It's freakin' awesome!
