Astral Tempest info request !
Just trying my first effective Astral Golems, testing Astral Tempest with a Returning (by ritual) Golem, on a Jotunheim AI army, it has'nt been that efficient...
If someone could help me on AT mechanisms :
- It looks like each turn only some units get attacked (like WS for example), is that really the case or is it only the animations ?
- What damage does it make ? From what i saw it took a quite long time to kill a Jotun... I'd guess stg like 2-4 AN
- Does MR negates the damage ? Looks like yes, because some of the "hit" opponents still were at full HP.. In this case, do Pen bonuses from additional Astral levels, Spell Focus etc.. apply ?
- Overall, do you find this an efficient spell ? I've been somewhat disappointed ...
Thanks for any help !

Re: Astral Tempest info request !
Never had an occassion to use Astral Tempest so I dont for sure know the answers. But I would assume that Astral Tempest functions like all the other astral spells (mind burn, paralyze, soul slay, etc) and has an MR resist check. As to whether MR penetration items on the caster have an effect on what is a whole-battlefield spell... hmmm tough call.

Re: Astral Tempest info request !
Well, not many replies, looks like AT is not *that* used !
I've found on Sunray's site that indeed there was a MR roll each turn.
Still unsure about if everyone is targeted or not, and if spell penetration bonuses apply or not ..

Re: Astral Tempest info request !
i would give the bonuses (rune smasher+spell focus+amulet of antimagic for safety) and then just get a very high astral pretender and drain their souls

Re: Astral Tempest info request !
I'd imagine penetration makes a difference, simply because it seems to do so in each and every other spell involving an MR roll, be it direct, area effect, total area, or overland...
Hmm. Wonder if globals such as Lure of the Deep are affected.

I suppose so : once I was affected by an Atlantis-IA LotD and I lost troops and leaders, but the prophet that was there was unaffected - it lasted some turns then I dispelled it.
