I know this has been asked before, but...
I am plagued with the "slow ship animation" problem. I believe that when this has come up in the past, it was attributed to a Windohs XP issue. 2 computers ago (Windows 98 system) I had fast animation, but on my previous and current computer I have this problem with XP. Has anyone figured out how to speed up ship animation?

It was also attributed to winmodems as I recall.

 Weird. I don't have a winmodem.

I don't know what to think of it. I'm running SEIV version 1.49 on Windoze 98. Sometimes the animation works fine. Other times it's slow. I suppose it could be some kind of memory issue, but I just can't say. Whatever it is, the problem seems to cross platforms.

Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
It's my recollection that the "comes and goes" animation slowdown in SE4 was caused by me running Window's Media Player beore playing SE4, a reboot always cured the problem.
Its been a long, long, looooong time since I've used Windows Media Player, so I just don't know anymore. But other programs may leave some sort of memory crumbs that interferes with the way SE4 wants to handle the animation.

Slick, does a system reboot not make the problem go away?

 | 1.49? You do know that the latest patch updates you to Deluxe version 1.94, even if you don't have Gold?

No kidding? You wouldn't toy with me would you, Ed? I know that for a long time that upgrade wasn't possible, and I was just about to make a post bemoaning the loss of version 1.49 players, because I can't seem to get a game any more.
Where can I find that upgrade to version 1.94?

 Patch from MalfadorMalfador site
Thought it copied the location, go through SEIV, downloads or you can get it from Strategy First.

I had the slow video intermittent problem on W98, and it was alway a RAM problem, and a reboot always fixed it.
Yes, the patch works for you too, and can be found here.
Go to the SE:IV section, then downloads. It the second patch on the page; the first patch being for those who already have up-to-date Gold.

Have fun!
