New small 4 Player Map (My Dom2HexMap trial run.)
Directly from the map file:

#dom2title Isle of Thrones_SE2 - by Ballbarian

#description "63 Land Provinces, NO Sea Provinces.
Designed for 4 players.
---
He who came before has passed into distant memory, but the legends and ancient
recorded histories recount the horrible strife and chaos that ensued prior to his
ascension. A small group of powerful beings, false gods, spent four score years
battling each other for control of a strategic and magic rich isle located in the
center of the only safe shipping lane across the massive Midrell river. As the
battles and skirmishes weakened each of the beings hold on their claimed lands,
rumors of the rise of true contenders for the title of god forced a truce upon the
group. A meeting of the group was held in an ancient mountain citadel upon the very
isle over which so much blood had been shed. The four most powerful banded together
secretly, and slew the leaders of the weaker bands. This new alliance swore to hold
the all important isle and to try to weather the coming storm in hopes that the
rising pretender gods will slay each other leaving the world to them in the end.
Word spread throughout the realm of the now reclusive masters of the isle and it
became commonly known as the Isle of Thrones.
---
About the map:
This started as a test map for a domininions II hex map editor that I have been
building. The majority of the tiles used were created by other users for
Arr-Kelaan's hex mapper (which I found while searching the net for hex tilesets
for use with my own program), and modified by myself. The bridges in this map were
created by yours truly. Borders are marked clearly, and rivers are impassable except
by bridges and in the two provinces with docks (marked by ships).
---
Note:
Each of the 4 home provinces is worth 1 point, and the Isle
of Thrones is worth 1. Five points wins.
Created with dom2HexMap by Ballbarian.

Hope someone other than myself can get some enjoyment out of this map. Suggestions, praise & complaints are welcome.

Re: New small 4 Player Map (My Dom2HexMap trial run.)
I LOVE this map. the red lines are a little bit of an eye sore but the map itself is brilliant. the special indies are tough (although i dont think that hoburg province should have multiples of the sharpest tooth) and rewarding to kill. that centre province is hell to capture (although you can bypass it by seiging with a scout since the indies will never break the seige)
this map would be pretty good for mp blitzs imo. maybe the reason i loved it is because my starshine skullcap+spell focus weilding mage squad shielded by buffed heart companions (luck, ethereal and e9 s4 bless) enslaved me a load of useful indies from the mummy province.

Re: New small 4 Player Map (My Dom2HexMap trial ru
Thanks for the feedback shovah, glad you enjoyed it!
I agree on the hoburg province. I was tired, and the effect just seemed to fit at the time, but looking back at it, the sharpest teeth were a bad call. Any suggestions on something to spice up the little ant commanders?
I am attaching an updated & zipped tga with an alternate border color that is hopefully a little easier on the eyes than the red borders. I am still not happy with the choice of colors, but it is a little less obtrusive.
Below is a screenshot with the alternate border color:

the hoburg provinces are a little weak aswell, maybe make one of their commanders like a giant hoburg (size 4-5, good equipment)

Giant hoburg!
Have it be a gold-clad Jotun Herse, name it Carrot, and give him Faithful the sword. Not exactly the one in Discworld, but I think would be recognizable.

How about air shield medallions and burning pearls for misc slots, and the lighting whip for weapons? Maybe that isn't strong enough, but the problem with giving hoburgs excellent equipment is whomever kills them can get it.
Hmm, what about lycan amulets?

I am not familiar with Discworld, but will research it this weekend.

I was actually refering to the actual giant ants that are commanders. They have names like Nipp, Nitt & Nibble.
Initially I had given them nature 1 so that they could command the other ants (which require magical leadership), and the sharpest teeth to give them a poison "sting" and bracers of protection for a tiny increase in prot & def. The intention of the hoburg provinces was to give a reward of high resources combined and the ability to churn out decent little hoburg armies. Also included the ants just because I had never run across them in the game before.
I have an idea for the provinces, but will not have time to implement it until sometime this weekend.
Thank you for the ideas!
(Keep 'em coming!)
