Re: Who else pre-ordered...
Guys if you want to play a good mmorpg, wait for 1. Warhammer Online, 2. Age of Conan, 3. Vanguard ... but skip WoW.

Re: Who else pre-ordered...
I play (and admin some) on Shazzy's Shard. A husband and wife team (he admins and she is the programmer). Its nice and adult with almost no support for PvP at all. The numbers dropped due to a gap while they moved but usually its just enough players to keep an economy going and get up groups to do some champions, but not so many that you cant have a house in the wilderness and have it actually BE wilderness instead of looking like some suburb. Oh yeah, and like most games I like, I host the site for free www.ShazzyShard.org
DnD-O was OK. It was sone well enough but basically the same complaint as I had with City of Heroes. Lots of work put into the game but then they dropped it on the quests. There is only so many times I can stand doing the same thing over and over. If they had put less work into the graphics and effects, and more into quests Id be happier. Like Diablo II which is quick to get into, lets me run other things at the same time to flip back and forth, and is free to play.. then I pop it up sometimes for a change the way I do D-II

Re: Who else pre-ordered...
Heh, now my brother pre-ordered Doms 3. today. This is like a miracle, he was like "no i wont order it until I see the demo"..but then again he realized that me + our little Doms community here [local friends] gonna buy Doms 3. and play that only via TCP/IP.
PS. Gandalf how come that you are still playing with UO? I never played it, but my oldest brother did...he says that the game is like 10 years old. Is it free to play now, or you still gotta pay for it? I played with many mmorpgs [got a rank 14 orc warrior in wow for example, but I stopped playing with it, also I was playing with EQ and Shadowbane]..but I never had a chance to try out UO.

Re: Who else pre-ordered...
I really liked the completness of the UO world. The economy, the quests, the variety you could have in day-to-day living. But the official servers filled up with griefers, and just plain FILLED UP. The "wilderness" where you could build a house become crowded suburbs and you were fighting deep wilderness type monsters in tight alleys between houses packed as tight as they could get.
But like many games, its saved by user efforts. There are now over 300 player run servers. All different styles. Some majorly PvP, some cranked up in monster strength, some so creatively rewritten as to be a completely new world.
The one Im on is run by a husband and wife team, about 30 people at a time on it. Enough for some real economy, and some team work. But not so many that you cant find a spot in the wilderness to build and have no neighbors if you want.
As MMO's go its a comfortable virtual retirement for me.

I hear it's fun for the whole family. Avoid that John Matrix guy, though.

Re: Who else pre-ordered...
Oh I see Gandalf, I just visited some old UO sites, the game looks fun indeed. I guess UO must be the mother of all MMORPGs.
Hm I never heard about Furcadia, Im gonna check it out.

I would never inflict the horror of Furcadia on poor, innocent puppies.
