To answer Captain Kwok's question - it was the 65th fleet grouping that froze the game |

I guess 64 fleets at one time is the limit. |

Re: need help - game froze
It could possibly be an issue with how the fleet names are generated. SEIV tries to create a name that is not already in use, and goes through part of the Greek alphabet to enumerate... I don't recall the exact progression, and am not near my SEIV computer at the moment, but it goes something like Alpha, Beta, Delta, Epsilon, Gamma, Kappa (alphabetical for us, but out-of-order for Greek ). Then it does Alpha Alpha, Alpha Beta, etc. I haven't seen it go beyond two greek letters, but have seen two greek letters with two spaces between instead of one. Could be that if you use default names, you run into problems when it tries to generate the next default with three letters, but only two end up being generated, and you have a duplicate. Crash (and burn).

Could it be the total number of Fleets, Sat's and Unit groups? Maybe they all occupy array space and the combination of them all has a limit? |

I didn't rename in my test, and ended up with sillyness like:
 Alpha Alpha Beta Fleet

 Alpha (four spaces) Fleet

Re: need help - game froze
I often rename my fleets anyway, so that the names have some sort of meaning to me (or not). That takes care of the 'alpha alpha' sort of nonsense. I dispose of fleets that have outlived their purpose, and have never had this sort of issue.

Re: need help - game froze
When you save your Empire, it also saves something like the last used fleet name. When you start a new game and load in that empire, your fleet names no longer start out at "Alpha Fleet". I think my fleet names now start with "Alpha Bravo space space space Fleet". For the first fleet I make. :-( That is one reason I think it has this starting fleet also in the equation for when it locks up. Although I must admit that the number 64 sounds very suspicious. Even with Phoenix-D at 69 fleets. I think it might be a combo of several things.
