Default Castle siege quick question

Do I remember correctly that castle walls provide no benefits for the troops inside the castle against incoming enemy missile fire during storm of the castle?

IIRC it doesn't block shots directly, but does provide a precision penalty.

Really? Interesting. I didn't know that.

The penalty only applies to the attackers of course, right?

If this is true, does anybody knows how big is this penalty?

I havn't noticed a penalty, and I bring lots of archers to seiges. If there is a penalty, I think it's quite small -massed archers still owrks very well, especially since troops bottleneck in doorways and get slaughtered.

Yep. I think that walls should block at least 25% of the arrows, also it should give a higher precision penalty. [In fact there is any precision penalty at all now regarding walls?]

I think there should be 'stay behind walls' order available for defending units.

Has "guard commander" changed with the new morale system?

In Dom2 all troops on bodyguard duty would result in everyone fleeing as soon as one was killed, just like all commanders.
Yes, I woiuld like to know it as well.

Also does it make sense to send tema of good SC with bodyguards into battle? (with no army) Or killing badyguards would very likely make SC rout?

I agree with both sentiments in this thread. Defenders really should stay behind their walls to meet the enemy at the gate. Enemy archers should not be able to get so many arrows inside the walls.

You could try setting commanders to "stay behind troops" and set their squads to "guard commander". That might make them stay put. If that doesn't work, just give all your melee commanders missile weapons and tell them to fire while their squads guard them. That will at least last as long as they have ammo.
