map with dungeons
I probably would never do this but I tohught Id post the idea so someone else can...
If you look at some of the maps on Illwinters sites, there are some that have split areas. Land and air, or air/land/underground. Or look at the Theatre of War map.
Now consider that Dom3 supports GIGANTIC maps but they dont have to all be used as one big connected map. In other words, create a normal average sized map. Then go thru and select many scattered locations to make "entrances". Now connect those provinces with one link to a spot WAY down on the image where there are a few small "provinces" connected as a dungeon. Fill them with monsters but possibly make them worthless as owned provinces. Now you have a map with dungeons that you can find and explore.

Re: map with dungeons
(this one is not of an average size, around 1250 provinces, 120 in the underworld, it will be suited for games with all eras mixed ; in addition to the underworld it features a web of gateway provinces allowing to travel to distant locations ; there are mini images of the map in the left to resume the special connexions)
ps : I'll finish it once I can get the "inserted province" function of the map editor working, and after the patch for cave provinces of course.

it\'s a long story
In fact I haven't made this map for Dominions, this map has a very long story. It was the map of a diplo/role artisanal pbem game on the World of Greyhawk I've organized about 10 years ago, including provinces for areas like the temple of elemental evil, the drow underworld etc... (I've for sure ftaghned a lot with the size, just imagine that it was the board of a non automated game, with a printed version where I moved the units each weak following the orders of about 40 players -I've stopped after a year, realizing I couldn't continue and do anything else of my life in the same time-).
Anyway, having this map on a disk since my first PC, it would have been criminal not to adapt it for dominions, so I've started to add sea provinces (the first version had just naval roads) and to "white pixelise" it for dom2. Then I've realised that the game was scandalously limited to 500 provinces, I've waited 3 more years, and finally I'm finishing the adaptation for dom3.

I played greyhawk too...
I enjoyed many years in greyhawk both playing and gm'ing, run the Temple of Elemental Evil has well, they never completed it, got lost in the elemental nodes...
Great map, can't wait to download, wonder if anyone will host a multi-player with it!

Re: I played greyhawk too...
So you guys are only now finding out about Twan's ridiculously gigantic map project? He posted the first version here months ago. *grin*
This thing makes Faerun 424 look like a bite-sized morsel...

Where can I download this map? Gandalf's maps are unavailable, so I cant find any large 1000 maps.
