Blood slaves in combat bug?
I've now had two battles in my current MP game that have resulted in my blood slaves being converted into normal units. Is this a known bug? (I'm not seeing it in the main bug thread) It's very annoying to lose a whole turn's income to a random one-commander-retreating-immediately attack...

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
blood slaves always show up as units in battle. (this is not a bug, they are not gems, they are virgins, after all.)

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
To be clear, after the battle, I now have no blood slaves in the mages' gem stocks (although none were spent), and some blood slave units in the garrison or under the command of the mages.

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
If it's a feature, not a bug, then maybe it's because they were defiled in the course of the battle, and are no longer pure enough to be used for magical purposes. You should just disband them .

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
That seems to be a bug a few people have had. If it isn't already in the bug discussion thread someone should bring it up using the guidelines Edi posted (I have to go to work).

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
Hmmm. Did the blood mages flee or die? I wonder how that gets handled...
On a side note, they're not yet fireproof, are they? I haven't played Abysia for a while, but I recall being annoyed by their temperature sensitivity... wouldn't mind seeing a
#bloodslave <unr|unit name>
command within nation modding for nation-specific blood slaves.

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
It also affects others.
Some merc leaders will end up leaving behind their units in the queue. Those also cannot be assigned or gotten rid of unless that province gets attacked. Im fairly sure that it occurs for the same reason.
I believe that it might also happen to other units that auto-summon help in combat but Im not positive on that.

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
You can turn blood slaves into normal units by mind controlling them. If your blood mages were tossing around Hellbind Heart, and your enemy was doing the same or had its own blood slaves, you can gain blood slave units. (I think Hellbind Heart affects mindless units, but I'll have to do some tests on this).
As a side note, these blood slaves don't seem to have a dousing bonus or powers if given a mind with Gift of Reason, at least in Dom II.

Re: Blood slaves in combat bug?
Ok, so an update on this issue. I ran forward into a province with a blood mage set on Retreat into a province I knew had no commanders (but did have troops...I love Beckoning). My commander retreated, the barbarians retreated, and the slaves ran forward and they ended up as the last ones on the battlefield. When I looked into that province, they were regular units.
