Slovakia
Just downloaded v3 and I'm more than a little surprised to see "Czechoslovakia" still listed as a country available to play after 1993. Don't get me wrong, I very much appreciate all the effort that goes into WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2. But this is a bit of a schoolboy error, given the country hasn't existed for over 14 years now!

Re: Slovakia
There is a check oob from 1946-2020. The name for an OOB is fixed, and there was no point in wasting an OOB slot for a name change in a minor eastern European country. (And it allows a campaign to be played across the boundary date, should that be desired).
Slovakia does have a separate oob - no. 51.
Cheers
Andy

Re: why the Czech Republic is \"Czechoslovakia\"
The way the code is set up it is not possible to change a nations name . There is simply no connection to the nations names list and any code to change that to comething else at a specific date. It's not an "error", we are well aware "Czechoslovakia" ceased existing as "Czechoslovakia" On 1 January 1993 but it is impossible to rename it "Czech Republic" without ending the OOB so we decided to keep the OOB and the name "Czechoslovakia" rather than create a separate "Czech Republic" OOB just so we could change the name of the country. Also complicating the process, the name "Czechoslovakia" that appears in the game pops up in a dozen places in the code so to even attempt to "fix" what amounts to a very minor "problem" would require a great deal of effort and much re-writing of code .
That's why the Czech Republic is "Czechoslovakia" past 1992

Fair enough guys. Sorry, didn't mean to sound too petulant. Don't let my wife hearing you calling her beloved Slovakia a "minor eastern European country" though ;-)

Ohhh I know *that* game all too well. Nuff said.

You're wife can relax. If you read what Andy wrote carefully you'll see it wasn't "Slovakia" he was refering to.

Re: why the Czech Republic is \"Czechoslovakia\"
It was probably spelling Czech as check that threw me ;-)
The code argument is a good one. I'm not a developer, but I've worked in software long enough to know the headaches apparently 'minor' changes can cause.
The "wasting an OOB slot for a name change in a minor eastern [sic] European country" argument is less strong I feel.
"Slovakia does have a separate oob - no. 51"
Now that is good news. I have in mind setting up a scenario where recent tensions between Slovakia and Hungary escalate into an armed clash. It's unlikely, but not impossible.
Anyway, thanks for the prompt answers.

Re: why the Czech Republic is \"Czechoslovakia\"
Btw I'd try to have a more thorough look into it and report later, but there will be a mighty Czecho-Slovakian Battlegroup From what I've seen so far (no troop types etc. mentioned) it would consist of 1500 troops, 300 of them Slovakian, rest Czech - most likely a similar makeup as current Czecho-Slovakian battallion in KFOR, though on larger scale.
Will keep updated.
