Default global canceled if immortal reforms? A: Nope

Is a global canceled if the immortal who cast it is killed inside a friendly domain?

Logically, it should be, because the immortal did die, he just came back from the dead immediately.

Yeah, I guess it depends on how you define "die". From a logical point of view you could make the case that immortal beings don't die unless their body is slain outside their domain.

Of course what really matters is how the game engine handles it. Is there a game phase that the immortal is dead - after dying, before respawning or does he transport immediately home without ever being dead? At what point is the check done for the global - is it immediate on death or at the phase that the global effects are calculated (and is this inside the "dead" window)?

My guess is that you are correct, that there is actually a period that the immortal is dead and thus the global is canceled, but that's just a guess about the game mechanics (at least for me, I'm misunderstanding if you're speaking from knowledge of how this works). I was wondering if anybody had seen for themselves how this worked in the game.

Ps. I'm assuming that "in battle" un-deaths such as phoenix pyre and Yomi's guys changing to ghosts aren't really "deaths" from that point of view, right?

It shouldn't be too hard to test, but I seem to remember that in a Dom2 game my lich had no problems maintaining globals despite being "slain".

I tested it.

VQ died in enemy province (with positive friendly domain) during a battle. Was reincarnated at home province, and maintained the global Looming Hells.

So, an immortal must in fact truly die a permanent death before his globals are taken down then. It is also a logical answer to the question, it just uses a bit different reasoning with a bit different premises.
