Thanks everyone!

Any unit which is cursed will receive lots more afflictions in battle... look for the curse icon. Using regeneration will greatly decrease the chance of new afflictions. Healing afflictions is most commonly done with gift of health, the chalice or fairy queen, but some nations have units which heal afflictions as well.

Re: Some basic questions
Some units have recuperation, which automatically has a random chance to heal afflictions.

Re: Some basic questions
A few magic sites have a chance to heal afflictions too.
Snacktime, if you're set on a dragon SC, then try giving him a bunch of Earth magic, for even more protection (and Summon Earthpower fairly soon for reinvigoration). Don't tire it out by scripting a bunch of other high-cost spells. It may be getting fatigued from flying around, so place it at the front and set it to 'Fire' then 'Attack Closest'. Give it Dom9 too for Awe to prevent most melee attacks. That should cut down on your afflictions a lot.

Re: Some basic questions
And a second shape, like a dragon or Machakan sorceror or Niefel skin shifter has, has a chance to heal afflictions when you transform into it.

Re: Some basic questions
Thanks everyone. Can anyone tell me what Sauromatia's new spells are?
It's pretty tough to plan research (or even choose these new nations) without any way to find out what their national spells are. I guess I could play them all the way out but that's a lot of effort.

Re: Some basic questions
Or page 262 if you've got a new manual with national globals.
For the new nations (or mods), hit F5. Scan each school list for blue (or is it purple) highlighted spells. Those are your national spells.
