				 Question about TCP/IP in SE5
Well, how may i get a Two-Player TCP/IP Game running?
Do we have to do some File exchanging or something like that?
Me and a friend of mine are sitting, both, behind a Router, and had trouble to get connected to each other with direct TCP/IP connection.
Is it functional with TCP/IP anyway? Or is it a must to play with the E-Mail-Server?

TCP/IP mode works fairly well in a LAN environment. Make sure to feed it internal network IPs, rather than any Internet IP. |

Re: Question about TCP/IP in SE5
Well, to make my question more clearly:How do we get a game running with TCP/IP through the Internet?
We don't sitting both in the same town, and want to play SE5 from time to time for a couple of hours.

I know, there is my internal IP (192.168.0.xx) an the external IP, which the router uses to connect to the Internet.
Which Port(s) do we have to foreward in our routers? Are there multiple ones?
Do the Ports have to have different in my and my friends Computer/Router?
And i know, i have to use the external IP to get to connected to the host.
But what is with the IP's?

Re: Question about TCP/IP in SE5
If you are playing over the internet you are going to need to use IP forwarding on the host computer. The other player(s) will need to connect to the internet IP of the host computer. If the players are connecting to an IP that starts with 192.168.x.x they are connecting to the wrong one.

Re: Question about TCP/IP in SE5
May we use selfchosen ports, or are they predetermined in SE5?
Edit: Is there anywhere a FAQ about multiplayer-games?

Well, in the meantime, someone told me, in the current version, the game cannot be played directly over the net using TCP/IP.Hoping for the Future.

It can be played "directly;" you just have to remove any end-user routers from the picture. Obviously this is not a very good solution... |

Hamachi works quite well. I haven't had any problems actually connecting with TCP/IP in SE5 using Hamachi. |

Re: Question about TCP/IP in SE5
As I write this, no one has added anything to the Wiki about TCP/IP.This thread at spaceempires5.com has TCP/IP instructions. (ignore the section header; it was posted in the wrong forum and hasn't been moved.)
