Noob Looking for PBEM Game
HI all. Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I didnt see a waiting list. I have no MP experince and would like to get some, to get better, have fun, and better educate me in map making. I'd love any sort of game, although I'd supre love a game that teamed vets with noobs so I could talk and learn with a vet while playing.
Thanks,
Z

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
Hi Zylithan,
I generally start up games for newbies quite regularly, but I'm having a bit of a hectic time recently, so I won't be starting another one for a couple of weeks.
The thing to do is check if any of the threads are open games. Actually I think there is a bit of a lack of new games at the moment - they're a bit like buses (all come at once). A couple of weeks back there was a silly number of new games starting. I guess patience is the key.
I know the game called BAG is recruiting players, although it also looks like it won't start for a little while. Worth signing up to though if you fancy a large-ish game.

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
Actually if any newish players fancy a game send me a PM, and in a couple of weeks when things have settled down in my real life and I get another newbie game organised I'll let you know and reserve a spot for you.

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
I have another suggestion for you.
Gandolf Parker (GP) runs a server for blitz games.
go to http://game.dom3minions.com/bin/blitz_chk.cgi
and follow the directions for joining a game.
The games are annonomous, The good news is if you get beat no one will know. that shoudl help you get the swing of MP before jumping into a newbie game on llamaserver

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
Although the atmosphere here is far from competitive, so you shouldn't worry about whether a loss is public or not! Still, Gandalf's server is great, although recently I think games are slightly slow to fill up (since lots of other hosts have started up).

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
that is true, seats aer slow to fill there now adays. You can PM me and I would be happy to play on Gandolf's server 1 vs 1 or whatever.
Your right about the non-competeive nature of these forums,
I have way more losses than wins and i am not ashamed.

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
Playing on Gandalf's server is a fantastic way to get into it. I have played a bunch of blitz games over there and lost a whole lot and won some (well one ).
The games are small but always interesting. The maps are good. I think Gandalf randomly generates bunches of maps and then host games using the ones that look fun. If you join one of Gandalf's games - throw away anonymity and advertise it here (start a game thread) - you will be able to fill the remaining slots in good time.
I have switched over to using llamabeast's server simply because the games have more players (though I still lose everytime).

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
I'm interested in trying another if it's on a fairer map than my first game was.

Re: Noob Looking for PBEM Game
I've also never played multiplayer, and would like in on a newbie game. Although I haven't tried and can't be sure, I don't think I would like blitz games and would prefer a more regularly paced game.
