Etruscae: Random "donut" map pruned for MP
This map was my attempt to create a donut world for MP play. It is randomly generated, but I hopefully managed to edit the start locations so players will only begin with four or five neighbors. I made a small edit to the north-western lake province (turned it into land) to get to complete the donut. I hope to make a better one of these in the future, but its the best I could for the moment.

Ah yes, choosing the rar format to confuse n00bs. Excellent.
Oh and an rgb as well! Couldn't you have included a short readme in pdf format also?

Thanks OmikronWarrior.
Will look closer at it this weekend when I get home from work.

Dom3 random maps are generated in rgb format. What is the problem?
No I would not have recommended the rar format to compress the file, but it is a fairly common format and if somebody is having problems figuring out how to extract the file I am sure that they will ask for help or request that someone upload it in a different format.
(For anyone who cares, I personally would prefer not to have a bloated pdf file included with a map download when a text file would suffice. )

That last remark of Sombre was sarcasm... somewhere I fear yours wasn't

Looks like quite a nice map though. As random maps go.

I'm not wanting to start anything here, but as Ballbarian said, the maps are generated in .rgb but to stress this even more..

What? I don't think I've had a file in years that isn't .rar. It's way beyond "fairly common". Didn't .zips and .arjs more or less go extinct, several years ago?
I wouldn't know, because I use WinRAR for all my compression/decompression needs, but doesn't Windows itself support the extraction of .rars?
I'm sorry, I'm just kinda stunned to hear someone refer to .rar as something alien, and then another chimes in and calls it "fairly common".
Oh, and before I forget, thanks for the map. Looks neat, as far as random maps go (not really a fan of those; has nothing to do with you )

Re: Etruscae: Random \"donut\" map pruned for MP
Sorry Luckman, but windows environments (XP & Vista) do not support the rar format natively as they do zip. Perhaps rar is common in many circles, but in this community (and the others that I personally frequent) you will find that the majority of the available downloads use zip. I am not saying all, but most.
I am sure that it just boils down to where we are and what forums we happen to frequent as to which is more common.

Re: Etruscae: Random \"donut\" map pruned for MP
I have to agree that the majority of Windows users will not have encountered the rar format.
