Some of you might know of the map "uropia" done by Zepath the Philosopher, which was a reversed version of Europe, with adeçuate start points for each nation.
What I am proposing (and will try to do, provided I find a nice enough base image file, which should be around 2400xl800 pixels) is a larger, with more provinces (at least 500-600), version of that, covering the whole world.
Assuming I get anywhere with this, I´ll post it there.
PD: I found a very nice, and very large pic of Piri Reis's map. I will try to base it off that.

Re: Map suggestion: Worldopia/Uropia reloaded.
Clever of you to base a map on Piri Reis. Very fitting for Dominions!
I always thought it would be interesting to base a fantasy world map on a map of the real Earth, except if the Earth were actually flat, and just continued on forever.

What I found is this:
which on closeup looks uglier. Actual Piri Reis maps are incomplete. Now I´m doing a search for some seventeenth century ones, maybe I´ll get lucky there.
If not, I have a very big, and pretty, physical world map. I could use that...

Re: Map suggestion: Worldopia/Uropia reloaded.
ok, dling a large map didnt turn out as expected. I should have foreseen it; regions appear too small. Particularily Europe.
I´m going to try another approach, by cobbling together simmilar sized maps, and try to give western Europe and North Africa a bigger size at the expense of the Syberian steppes, and the American continent..

Re: Map suggestion: Worldopia/Uropia reloaded.
Well, thanks to Poopsi, I have finally gotten around to finishing up my modifications to the original Uropia.
Changes in V.2:
- Agartha moved from Russia to Dalmatia/Balkan Coast
- Bogarus added in Russia
- Hinnom/Ashdod/Gath added in Lebanon
- Oceania moved to central Mediterranean (original position was too
close to Hinnom/Ashdod/Gath)

Re: Map suggestion: Worldopia/Uropia reloaded.
Here's a really nice world map for anyone interested:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fra_Mauro_map
It was made in 1450 and is one of the finest medieval world maps known to exist.

Re: Map suggestion: Worldopia/Uropia reloaded.
Here's a link to a page that contains the above map, and also a redrawing of the outline (sans detail) with a North orientation (the original orients South due to influence from Muslim maps it was apparently in part based on) that might be of help in actually recreating it, if anyone wants to do so:

Re: Map suggestion: Worldopia/Uropia reloaded.
Those are nice, but the images are too small to meddle with them...
... I´m considering trying to make my own map from scratch. This might be lenghty, through....
