Actually, as you know that last bits not true; I sent an email to you, you made a choice, and responded to my email.

Slobby, you make it sound as if the 24h deadline has been rigorously enforced, when in fact it hasn't. Not counting the llama delay, the game was delayed on the at least 3 times going back through the threads.
I got interested in resigning when you arbitrarily delayed the game 3 days without word or explanation, till after the fact.
I grant that I signed up for a 24 hour game. But processing times that vary wildly and unpredictably do not make it easier.
And you never answered the question -why *not* just rerun the turn.
When I have hosted (and a thankless job it is - so kudos to you for that), I find the critical question is - what is the best course of action *for the game*.
So things I think are critical are:
-Explaining whats going on, when theres a delay.
-If a turn crashes explaining, asking for opinions on how to deal with it, and then explain the decision you made.
-Once you make a decision, try to apply it consistently.
-Make decisions that damage the game the least. I think thats the critical point.
So, in this particular instance, I think the game is damaged by having three staling positions, especially with a plausible reason why.
I also think that having a substitute play a position, damages the game, because the substitute presumably will not know how the pretenenders and dominion were optimized, why the research was done in the way it was etc.
Now it could be that there were huge game issues; reasons to not rerun the turn. But without an explanation it just seems you chose not to, because you didn't *want* to.
Anyway, thanks for setting up the game. Good luck & good gaming
