Hey, why pick on the British as examples of betrayers?

I would not trust my real life friends if they did not betray me while playing dominions with me

Re: Oh, Perfidious Albion
I like how there is only one honorable player on the list.
Nice to know these forums are composed mainly of rogues and scoundrels. No wonder I enjoy them...

Re: Oh, Perfidious Albion
My family has a phrase "stupidly paladin" to refer to me being honorable even when no one else would be. I play that way in all games when I play as Gandalf Parker. Especially on sites where I have a position such as moderator, admin, wiz, or god.
But I admit that I do have some aliases that act as a release valve when Im in the mood to be evil. Altho it does seem that Im not very good at it. I tend to do better in the honorable games.

Re: Oh, Perfidious Albion
I wish you guys would stop posting negative comments on this thread. It is my intent to find guys that I can trust.
This is slightly OT, did you know that during the Napoleonic wars the French and English used hot air blimps sitting across the channel to insult each others leaders?

I think this is the true 'spirit' of this game! I only play MP with my friends, guys who I would trust with my life in the 'real world'. But in Dominions, where "there can be only one", shifting alliances, backstabbing, betrayal, etc., are entirely par for the course, and definitely the spice of digital life!
In the game, the people I would otherwise in the real world trust completely, I trust not at all. The player who was my bosom ally in the last game, I expect may totally stab me in the back in the next, if it suits his purposes, and I allow it to happen. And I've happily allied with those who have betrayed me in previous games (as long as I'm allying from a position of strength, hold the whip hand, or have guarded against potential betrayal, etc.).
Every game is situational. Just remember, everyone wants to win, or at least spite those who are crushing them There is, and there should be, no corollary to 'real world' behavior.

Re: Oh, Perfidious Albion
The computer scientist in me feels compelled to point out that your trust algorithm is fragile. Two dastardly blackguards could collaborate to place each other on your list and then stab you at an opportune time. Instead of asking in public, you ought to be forming private conclusions as to who is trustworthy (in-game, since many people here are trustworthy in real life but view roleplaying an evil pretender as part of the game) and asking them who plays like they do.
