Re: Preponderance - Big Team Game! [1-2 subs needed!]
It was a lucky month for the fans of occult watching in Marignon. Two battles in the void, and one in the inferno! In one of the battles in the void, it was raining.
The inferno battles have automatic Heat from Hell.
I also managed to get a unit lost in the void while wielding a lightless lantern ... so I'll see if he manages to return earlier than usual.

Re: Preponderance - Big Team Game! [1-2 subs needed!]
Abysia, post-mortem:
Early on, I decided to explore the central ring. This turns out to have been a mistake diplomatically - 1) I found Caelum, and 2) it caused everyone to go nuts over my rapid expansion.
If I'd simply stomped Pythium, I'd have been in much better shape.
Saurmarignon (I am still encamped on Saurs capital) offered me an NAP early on. This is not a sign of great strength - and I was not impressed with Saur's display of military acumen (I'm encamped on his capital, as I mentioned) so I said "fine, if you let me keep what I've got in the inner ring, we have an NAP."
He responded by signing a treaty with Caelum, and attacking me. Now, at this point I tried to get either Saur or Caelum to back off, and they negotiated a bit but basically they had a treaty and Caelum wouldn't back off.
Sauromatia may have been willing to back off, if I let him have the territory in the ring. On the one hand, this was territory near his capital, which is I guess why he thought he was somehow entitled to it. On the other hand, I'd just whallopped two of his armies (he did better later on, by deploying all of his mages while most of mine were at home) and killed his God. So I said, "give me 80 gems and the current border and I'll let you live." Unsurprisingly, he said no, although I will say - he'd be in much better shape now if he'd given me those 80 gems and left me alone. He's picked up six provinces in exchange for several more armies, and a lot of time spent with his capital turned off.
So I had a choice to make - I could take some disadvantageous deal with Saur, but at that point I'd purely be playing as a spoiler to prevent Micah+QM from winning, OR, I could fight all comers and get this over with quickly.
The choice is clear. Given that it was 2 or 3 on 1 (which does not enable the full spread of strategic choices one might desire) I don't think I did too badly.

post-post-mortem:
Would anyone object if I took over another position while continuing to blood-hunt saur's capital?
I promise not to send gems or money to the new position, but I really want to see how long I can keep this up. I've got some scouts with fire gems and a third fire helmet coming to replenish the force holding saur's capital territory...

Get a friend to sub last few turns for Abysia and make him forward turns to you?
Anyway, let me know when to change Van/Ulm mail to you [and PM me that email], Ironhawk should know earlier too, so he does not do the turn in vain.

Frustratingly, Bandar Log aren't quite dead yet. We'd like to thank the Caelian Temping Agency for kindly sourcing us a High Seraph. We doubt he'll be in our employ for long, but the gift will be taken in the spirit in which it was intended.

Re: Preponderance - Big Team Game! [1-2 subs needed!]
I think BL are now sufficiently dead that I can turn them to AI without making much difference.
Post-mortem:
I was toddling along pretty well until DrP unfortunately found himself in a war on 3 fronts. I thought I'd be in a good position to assist him, until my explorations into the cave system lead me into LA Caelum. After that, well... BL run by me < Caelum run by Micah/QM.

Re: Preponderance - Big Team Game! [1-2 subs needed!]
My apologies to everyone. I have an emergency situation and have to abandon the game. I had a conversation with my teammate - he doesn't want to continue without me.
Sorry for for leting you know about it only after 2 stales, I just didn't want to make an anouncement until it is 100% clear I'm not returning in game.

Just posting here to let everyone know that I'm subbing in for EA Mictlan and Yomi. Best way to find me is on IRC if you need to talk.

as far as i know my pretender was only very slightly horror marked and had never once been attacked by a horror..... it dies...i call it back.... the turn it comes back the eater of gods kills it before i can equip any items to help defend it...wow.... did it get a ton of horror marks while being dead? or did it get a lot of horror marks from some source i can't determine? wow i'm devastated!

Re: Preponderance - Big Team Game! [1-2 subs needed!]
I think it's possibly just a combination of being in the HoF with almost 300 kills, and being horror marked.
Usually my HoF units only get attacked under AC, but maybe there's a chance of an upgrade to the hunter of heroes if you're about to be attacked by a lesser horror, and you're also in the HoF.
