what game settings would you like to see?

I for one have never seen a finite resourse game, nor a colonize breathable atmoshere only, let alone any other settings. I have not scoured the open games overly much.

I just wonder if such games have been played? And what the players think, after playing these type game

Yeah, I posted something about this earlier today. I'm thinking of starting a game (possibly with finite resources) with "Colonize only home planet type". 1.67-Gold.

The idea is to get more diplomacy between races that have no reason to war on each other (because you can't use each others planets, and would be better off teaming up).

Anyone interested?

I've played a few colonize breathable atmosphere games only and I'm not a fan of them. I think the big problem with them is they add a huge element of luck. You may start with a couple of colonizable planets in your home system or find none for a couple systems around.

yeah, I don't know if I'm going to go as far as restrict to breathables only, but you're usually guaranteed a standard mix of rock-ice-gas planets (usually 40-40-20 percent, if I recall). Setting it to only colonize home TYPE shouldn't change the early game (because that's all you'd be able to colonize anyway) but you would, hopefully, be more apt to share systems with other players.

It would be interesting if, for instance, a gas player spanned the territory of two rock players. The rock players are at war, but both could be allied with the gas player. He could try to play peacemaker, or aid the side of the rock player that would be most able to aid him against his own gas-opponents.

Ok, it should be clear by reading my history of Posts that I'm willing to try ANYTHING to squeeze some more interesting diplomacy out of the games good-but-limited diplomacy engine

Actually in standard un-modded 1.67 gold the mix will be about 50/29/21 (rock-ice-gas) based on my still not totally proven theories on how the game selects planets...
