In August 2000 when I followed a link to the Shrapnel page, and downloaded the demo to SEIV, I had no clue that in a two years, I would be publishing my 22nd race for the game.

The United Consortium of Planets.
Description:
The UCP is a breakaway faction of the United Federation of Planets. It has often been joked that the humans of the UCP are the Severe Environment Hunters, or SEH, of the galaxy. Seeking out strange new worlds and exploring the stars. One thing is for curtain, Humans are no fools, and once provoked into violence, they can often become more than the aggressor can handle.
Biological Description:
The UCP population is comprised of Humans, Vulcan’s, Romulan, Klingon, Andorian, etc but mainly Humans. Humans stand on average of about 2 meters, weigh on average of about 170 pounds. They are of average strength, and have a life span of about 90 years. They are extremely intelligent, and posses an awesome ability to work together. They prefer planets with an oxygen nitrogen atmosphere; however, they can adapt quite well to any environment.
Society Description
The UCP was founded as a democracy, but soon fell under the guiding control of a military republic. The General Operations Director, G.O.D., is an elected member of the militarily. His term of service ends when he retires from the military becomes unable to carry the burden of office, or dies. Most often the G.O.D. dies in office. The Senate and House of Representatives are citizen elected and serve to the population and keep a rain upon the military. The society is broken up into many professions, but mostly the UCP is a working society. They are explorers at heart, and the whole of their society is driven to that end.
General History Description
The United Consortium of Planets was formed when the United Federation of Planets won the Dominion war. Years before, the Federation had opted to trade away many Federation colony worlds along the Cardassians border in a vain attempt to solidify peace with the Cardassians. This resulted in many planets being left to fend for themselves against a vastly overpowering foe. Many Star Fleet officers viewed this as an abandonment of the principles of the Federation, and chose to leave Star Fleet and render what assistance they could to the colony militia’s, now called the Marquis. Once the Cardassians signed a military pact with the Dominion, all but a handful of these colony worlds and nearly all the members of the Marquis were methodically and in most cased ruthlessly wiped from the pages of history by the Dominion. Following the conclusion of the war, many Star Fleet officers, who had escaped back to Federation territory and returned to Star Fleet to help in the UFP war effort against the Dominion, once again resigned and returned to the worlds that had become home. Vowing to never again be left to the whims of a violent enemy, these now free worlds banded together to form the UCP.
