Default growth and old age

I made some xperiments with old age. I was curious how much growth scale worth.

watching crones of avalons in their twilight home, slowly passing away, i perceived:

(number of februars by witches/number of diseases)

with G0 136/19 ---> 14%
with G3 108/8 ---> 7,4% chance for a crone to get a serious illness during late winter.

Interesting, but the fact that you used crones means that you also have nature magic participating in the mix. I would say that, in order to "cleanse" the results you would need to see the performance compared to old non-nature mages.

I believe I have heard that fire magic causes mages to age faster, and after playing MA Marignon a few times, that would seem to be the case.

LA Man's Magister's Arcane have neither nature or fire magic and would make for an excellent candidate for further study especially since you can hire them in great masses since they're recruit-everywhere.

It shouldn't affect the results. Nature and Fire magic affect the max age, not the rate of afflictions.
