				 8 Armoured Brigade 42-45

I need a commander for the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry - a unit that at the start of the war was a cavalry regiment that converted to artillery in 1940 and in that role already sew action in North Africa and Crete. Now it has been recast as a tank regiment and assigned to the new British 8 Armoured Brigade.

It is late 1942 and the Axis forces are advancing on Alexandria, Egypt, the 8th Brigade - with its Red Fox Mask insignia - is about to be thrown into the fray...

The idea is to play this as a campaign roughly following the history of the 8 Arm Bde between late 42 to the end in NW Europe 45..., I expect it will take around 30-40 battles to finish...

I build the scenarios, you lead the SRY to victory or doom... |

You get a frame for a campaign and the scenarios will be added as you go along. You will yoursef have to add the scenarios to the campaign but I think you are familiar with this concept...

The whole thing will be based on the history of the British 8 Arm Bde and you will command the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry - this because it was the one regiment that served in the 8 Arm Bde for its entire war service, between 1942-45. A british WWII tank regiment equals about a battalion size unit in American or German armies...

IMHO, this is a fun way to build a campaign.
(I have a few other similar campaigns in mind as well...)

Allright. I will be happy to try. Battalion sized campaigns seems to be most interesting.I still have one French running, but it will not interfere.

What do you say about some roleplay? If I could post here some requests for support, reinforcements, upgrades, tactical clarification etc.?

Sure - but then I would prefer if we could base the campaign around any other unit, but the SRY. You pick - British or any other nation. |

You make your choice as you throw the campaign. Why not SRY for this role? Tank crews will be excellent for roleplay. |

				 Re: 8 Armoured Brigade 42-45
If you have the time would love to see (or even play) a campaign for "The Polar Bears from Sheffield" - The Hallamshires!
I live in Sheffield and have the great book by Don Scott (signed by the author), which is a collection of diaries, letters, photos and recollections of the unit during WWII (including their time in Iceland and Normandy).

If you need any further info may I recommend an article which was written in 1948 for our local newspaper about the unit HERE .

I understand if you dont have the time (Or inclination). It is something I had thought about creating a scenario for at one point depicting the fighting around the "Depot de Mendicite" where Cpl. Harper won his VC (and lost his life). |
