Get password out of modpicker
I lost the password for one of my games, but it's still stored in the modpicker. Is there any way to extract the password out of the modpicker?

Re: Get password out of modpicker
Oh, my.
If it's PBW, then just ask the game admin to reset your password. You'll have to let the AI run one turn, tho.
If it's solo play...... Ouch.

Re: Get password out of modpicker
The modpicker passwords are encrypted. But if the password is in there, then start the turn and change it to something you can remember.

Re: Get password out of modpicker
Thanks for your ideas. I had totally forgotten that PBW can mail me the password. Sometimes higher education can be a burden.

Re: Get password out of modpicker
Sorry Gorgo, you'll have to get pbw to sort it out for you.
For reasons that I hope should be obvious I'm not going to make a password decrypter or detail how to decode them.

Re: Get password out of modpicker
*sigh* The things you do when you're bored.
I figured out that extracting the passwords shouldn't be that hard, allowing that a couple of assumptions are true... Not that it wouldn't gain a person much to be able to extract them; they are your passwords after all. You aren't learning someone else's password...

"You aren't learning someone else's password..."
The game files sent by PBW can be used to play ANY player's turn.

Re: Get password out of modpicker
But you can't load other people's passwords into the Mod Launcher, unless you know them already.

Re: Get password out of modpicker
Phoenix-D: Yes, that is true, gamefiles can be used to play other people's turns.
But he is correct, you wouldn't be learning other people's passwords.
Don't forget that you'd need their launcher.ini to get their passwords into your modlauncher.
Seems like quite a bit of effort just to take their turn
I still won't detail how to decrypt them for those people working on multiple-user machines with unscrupulous friends/siblings
