That's an interesting idea, though it has the same problem as in MOO. How do you compare scores of people playing with different game settings? As a sort of "note pad" for your personal recollection of good games it would be kinda nice to have, though.

So you limit the number of settings allowed. Just like there are a million variations of basketball (horse, 1-on-1, half-court, etc.) only one is "official" as per the NBA.

We've (Twin Galaxies) got a program we're working on that takes scores from different games and downloads them to the digital Version of our scoreboard. It needs manufacturer support, it's not something we can impliment alone. We've got a few companies willing to use it, but Aaron (Mr. Malfador) wasn't willing to return our calls when we approached him about it. If he changes his mind you could have a situation where after a game your score is automatically sent to our computers and if your settings were correct the score gets recorded for all time (or as long as we keep this Version of the scoreboard at least). Mod games would be S.O.L., but people playing on most of the default settings could have a world-wide high score table.

Our contest is also a step in that direction, and we'll be accepting scores forever, though after March we won't be giving out prizes for high scores in SE4. So we do have a public scoreboard if you're willing to play by our settings.

Ok I'll stop patting my boss on the back now.

Default Why no High Score table at end of game?

I gotta confess to some disappointment when I finished my first game and just dropped to desktop. I have always enjoyed the High Score feature of many other games in this genre, and was quite surprised to not find one. Would anyone else like to see this feature added?

I personally like a Hall of Fame even it is meaningless. Although, with races surrendering on their own you can't hold one up like in Moo2 so the scoring would eventually end.

Yes, a High Score table, as silly as it sounds is actually a great thing to add a little more roleplaying depth to your games. Then your games can be illuminated for all time, and not just "be over".

I'd like something like that too. It can take quite a bit of time to play a long game and I'm also one who feels a bit sad when the game just goes "poof" after the victory screen. Something a bit more Lasting, even if it is just a line on a chart, would be very nice.
