Default Quadrant size?

Does anyone know the number of systems in a
1) Small quadrant - about 33?
2) Medium quadrant - about 66?
3) Large quadrant - about 100?

I get a bit buggy trying to count the number of systems in the large quadrant, so I am not too sure about 3).

I notice there some variation in the size of quadrants. What causes the variation. For example the number of players?

Default Re: Quadrant size?

There's an entry in Settings.txt -

Maximum Number Of Systems := 100

which controls the upper limit for a large quadrant; this can be increased to a maximum of 255, but you'll need a bigger list for SystemNames.txt .

I think small and medium are some fraction of this number. The variations come from the way the generator places systems; different quadrant types use different placement rules, and randomly placed systems that don't "fit" are dropped. (At least I think that's how it works.)

[ Edit ] Oh, and once you've mapped the entire quadrant, the total number of known systems is listed on the (F4) Planets window.
