A good guide to what themes are ?

Hi, I'm looking throught the manual and this forum Posts ... also the nice newbies guide, but I'm not been able to find a good explanation of what themes are and theyr influence ... I have red the post about spells and themes ... but in which way selecting a specifi theme will change your nation ? probably the information is somewhere but I wasn't able to find ...
