White is nice because it stands out and lets you very quickly see who's in control of what. If you must color the shields, please use the same colors the game uses for that nation's score graph. Of course, a colored background may make an ugly hash when you put an icon over it. Some colors just do not complement others well at all. Personally, white is good enough, and a safe choice.  |
