Try testing out various sizes to see what format you like the best. Then use the same size for all the icons rather than different for each nation. If you want to use icons that are tall and thin then you might want to tilt them a bit to the right.

The fewer colors the icon has the better. Flags rarely have more than three after all.

Well, yeah, of course I fiddled around with unisize insignia, but I dug more the more diversified approach. The reason for the mod was, after all, the somewhat stale feel the traditional flags conveyed. These don't try to be flags, but emblems; the more embellished the better. As to the crowdiness: it's more a matter of defaultmapzoom, I think, as on some maps even the fort and temple symbols seem intrusive. Good points though, always glad for a chance to explain my artistic vision
