Help with campaign play please

After tons of scenarios I decided to play my first campaign, I was thinking in a WW3 scenario in Europe commanding Soviet Armor, I'm a very bad player

so can someone help me selecting the best way to have a balanced but not that hard to win

Also what will be the most interesting era for that, taking hardware in mind, I thought in early-mid 80's, T-72,T-64 Vs M1, M-60
