The support hq would have been eliminated at battle end, and the core units likely left dangling (as with yours) or possibly pointing at random hq elements (which could be the enemy) or an inactive hq depending on both player's subsequent buys.

I'll have to look into stopping core units being cross attached to support formations, and maybe the opposite may cause problems too?.
