Ships Of Sea And Space On Sale For The September Special!
New Gamers Front Monthly Specials Now Available!

Cary, NC, 02 September 2010

It's the start of a new month which means there are two new titles specially discounted at the Shrapnel Games e-store, the Gamers Front, all month long. For September gamers can climb on board either ships of wood or ships of futuristic alloys (or both, imagining the wooden ships as a holodeck simulation while sailing the sea of stars) with Salvo! and Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space on sale.

In today's modern navy sailors have it easy. Want to sink that Iranian MTB? Point, click, boom. In days of yore naval warfare involved mostly having to know a lot about knots. And not killing albatrosses. Salvo!, the nautical wargame from developer Spruegames, takes you back to the golden age of fighting sail but cleverly drops all the knot tying for more modern conventions. Point, click, boom.

Salvo! is a turn based wargame covering naval warfare from the seventeenth through nineteenth centuries. Players can command a wide variety of ship types and do battle amongst all the major seafaring powers of the eras along with treacherous pirate scum. Campaign and scenario based, Salvo! also supports a thorough suite of editing tools that allow gamers to modify/create ships and scenarios. Additionally, players can do battle against live opponents even cross platform (PC versus Mac gamers).

Salvo! is very comprehensive and detailed but easy to play. An action marker system allows games to range from ship on ship duels to huge fleet engagements, yet no matter the size of battle the system keeps everything controllable. Visuals are full 3D and in fact the UI is designed so players never feel like they have to leave the action.

Fighting Sail fans will appreciate all the work that Spruegames put into Salvo!. Everything you'd want in a Fighting Sail game can be found, from the dangers of shallow water to shore batteries to boarding actions and more.

Jim Cobb said of Salvo!, "Every serious student of the Age of Sail needs this game." Pat Miller of Applelinks remarked, "...for the turn-based tacticians out there who love to obsess about this kind of stuff, Salvo! is definitely the game for you."

Salvo! is available for both Windows and Mac systems as either a physical product or a download. The sale price for September is only $34.95.

And now from sailing ships to starships, Digital Eel's twenty-minute masterpiece, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space. Edward Pollard says it best: "It is a simple delight that scales to all levels of player and never, ever overstays its welcome. It is fun, rock solid, and ever so charming and for what it is it is utterly brilliant. If you've ever enjoyed a single episode of Star Trek you need to buy this game."

Weird Worlds is a game that never takes itself too seriously. It's a game made by folks who like to have fun for folks who enjoy having fun. In it the player embarks on an epic multi-year mission in Sector Prime, choosing from one of three career paths. On the mission new lifeforms and civilizations can be discovered, aliens can be fought, and plenty of loot can be discovered. All of this in under thirty minutes.

Space is truly infinite in Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, as each universe is generated fresh for each game. Additionally, the game fully supports mods for even more variety.

Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is available for both Windows and Mac, physical product or download. It's on sale for only $21.95 and it's full of double rainbows, puppy dogs, and so much just plain fun you won't know how you made it through your days before owning it.

You can purchase both games at the Gamers Front:
