Death/Fire Major bless question

I am aware that a major fire or death bless replaces the normal secondary effects of a weapon, such as a Fire Brand.

Does anyone have any data regarding melee weapons that have an AoE attack, benefiting from such a bless, when the AoE component is not a secondary effect?

For example, a Snake Bladder Stick or Harvest Blade, which I believe attack an area as their primary attack (unlike a fire brand, which is secondary).

Would outfitting a fire or death blessed commander with snake bladder sticks be an effective strat?

Have I missed something here?
